A: An insulated glass unit, or IGU, combines two or more glass panes separated by a sealed spacer cavity. The cavity helps reduce heat transfer and can improve thermal and acoustic performance compared with single glazing.

A: Yes. Low-E coated glass and argon filling are common options for improving energy performance. The final glass makeup, coating surface, cavity width, spacer and gas specification should be selected for the target climate and building design.

A: Double glazing uses two panes with one sealed cavity, while triple glazing uses three panes with two cavities. Triple glazing can provide improved insulation but is heavier and requires compatible frames, hardware and structural design.
