Shower glass is a kind of safety tempered glass, which is essentially soda-lime silicate glass and its main components are silica, calcium oxide and sodium oxide. This article briefly introduced some common types of glass used in shower rooms today:
Clear glass: This is the most common type of shower glass and is completely transparent, allowing maximum light to pass through and giving the shower area a spacious feel. Clear glass is the basis for processing other types of shower glass.
At Migo Glass, we produce clear shower glass panels and doors all year round.
Clear glass can be made in hinge shower glass doors and sliding shower glass doors.

Frosted glass: Frosted glass is made of ordinary flat transparent glass that has been treated with mechanical sandblasting, chemical treatment, pickling (hydrofluoric acid), frosting and screen printing to make the glass surface rough and uneven, translucent glass. The rough surface of frosted glass can cause diffuse reflection of light, transmitting light without seeing through: light is reflected through frosted glass and then emitted in all directions (because the surface of frosted glass is not a smooth plane, causing diffuse reflection of light), and is refracted to the retina. The image was already incomplete, so we couldn't see what was behind the glass. So frosted glass provides privacy, making the room soft and non-glaring while still allowing light to pass through, making it a popular choice for those who want to maintain privacy in the shower.

Silk screen glass: We have seen many beautiful patterns on flat glass, and these patterns are painted through glass silk screen technology. The principle of silk screen printing is to print ink onto the surface of flat glass, and then use the ink curing method to make the pattern strong and durable. Screen printing is divided into high-temperature screen printing ink and low-temperature screen printing ink. High-temperature screen printing ink must be screen-printed first and then go through a tempering furnace (the heating temperature of the glass tempering furnace is usually set at 680-720 degrees Celsius) so that the ink and the glass surface merge together. At this time it's impossible to wipe off the ink. Low-temperature screen printing ink is to bake the glass in an oven. After passing through the oven, the ink will dry, but the pattern can still be scraped off by sharp instruments such as knives. Low-temperature ink is not as durable as high-temperature ink.
The surface of silk screen glass can be printed into various designs or patterns. It adds a decorative element to the shower area and also provides privacy.

The most popular silk screen printed glass in recent years are black rigid-like pattern glass, which replaces traditional metal frame, easier for clean and price is much lower.

Colored glass: Colored glass, also known as "bulk tinted glass", is made by mixing certain metal oxides during the production process of transparent glass to show various colors. After research, people found that if 0.4 to 0.7% colorant is added to the ingredients of ordinary glass, the glass can be colored. Colorants are mostly metal oxides. Each metal element has its unique "spectral characteristics", so different metal oxides can show different colors. If these oxides are added to the glass ingredients, the glass will be colored. For example, when chromium oxide (Cr2O3) is added, the glass becomes green; when manganese dioxide (MnO2) is added, the glass becomes purple; when cobalt oxide (Co2O3) is added, the glass becomes blue, etc.
Tinted glass is available in different colors and can provide privacy while reducing the amount of light entering the shower area. It can also help reduce glare and heat from the sun.

Low-iron glass: Low-iron glass, also known as ultra-white glass and high-transparent glass, is a high-quality, multi-functional new high-end glass variety with a light transmittance of over 91.5%. It is crystal clear, high-end and elegant. It is known as the "Crystal Prince" of the glass family. Ordinary glass contains a certain amount of iron compounds and looks greenish. The iron content in bottom iron glass is less than 10% of ordinary glass, so it looks like colorless crystal.
Low-iron glass has a lower iron content, giving it a clearer, more colorless appearance than standard clear glass. It allows for maximum light transmission, making it perfect for those who want a clean, minimalist look.

Patterned glass: Patterned glass is a kind of flat glass made by rolling method. Before the glass hardens, a pattern-engraved roller is used to emboss patterns on one or both sides of the glass, thus making one or both sides patterned glass. The surface of patterned glass is embossed with various patterns of different shades. Due to the uneven surface, light is diffused when passing through it. Therefore, when looking at an object on the other side from one side of the glass, the object image is blurred, but light can transmit the glass. Patterned bathroom glass diffuses light and provides privacy. It comes in a variety of designs, such as rain, Moru, Nashiji and Oceanic patterns, adding a unique visual element to the shower.

Self-cleaning glass: Self-cleaning glass generally refers to the application of a special coating on the surface of the glass, making it difficult for dust or dirty liquids (including liquids containing water or even oil) to adhere to the surface of the glass, or to be easily absorbed by water. (or rainwater) rinse away, so that the glass surface is very easy to keep clean, reducing the trouble of cleaning the glass surface.
Self-cleaning bathroom glass helps repel water and prevent the build-up of soap scum and mineral deposits, reducing the need for frequent cleaning and maintenance. The brand of self-cleaning fluid currently used by our company is EnduroShield.
