The existence of the empty layer is a unique sign that distinguishes vacuum glass from other glasses. When the flat glass that makes up the vacuum glass is subjected to atmospheric pressure, the two parallel adjacent glass plates will move inward, causing the vacuum layer to gradually shrink or even disappear. If the vacuum layer disappears, the vacuum glass will become an ordinary double-layer glass. Performance will also be greatly reduced. In order to ensure the existence of the vacuum layer, supports should be placed between the two glass plates to separate and support them.
Vacuum glass has strict requirements for the selection of supports:
1. Minimize the volume and overall number of supports to avoid increasing thermal conductivity and reducing the transparency of the glass;
2. If the volume of the support is too small, due to the effect of atmospheric pressure, a concentrated load will form at the contact point between the glass plate and the support, which will increase the tensile stress on the outer surface of the glass plate above the support and easily cause damage to the glass plate;
3. The shape of the support is currently mostly cylindrical, and there are also square, elliptical, linear, grid, etc.;
4. The material of the support can be stainless steel, tungsten carbide steel, chromium steel, aluminum alloy, nickel, molybdenum, tantalum, ceramics, etc.
The spacing between supports should also follow certain standards:
The spacing between supports is generally determined before production based on parameters such as the type and thickness of the glass and the type and diameter of the supports. Once the supports are missing, the permanent residual stress in the glass will increase, causing vacuum glass The probability of cracking will increase during future applications, and in severe cases, it may even directly cause the glass substrates to contact or crack each other.
In the field of support placement, most companies currently use manual placement. This method requires a lot of manpower, is difficult to operate and labor-intensive, has low placement accuracy, easily causes glass contamination, and is extremely inefficient. In view of this situation, during the R&D and production process of LandV glass, LandGlass invested a lot of manpower, time and money in the R&D and design of an automatic support placement machine. The automatic placement equipment can be designed according to the operation control program. The supports are laid out in a certain layout form and spacing, which solves various problems caused by manual placement. It finally solves the problem of support placement in vacuum glass production and improves the output of vacuum glass. Made a great contribution to quality.
