When discussing bent glass, many buyers only provide a radius and assume it is enough for production. In reality, curved glass manufacturing requires much more information to ensure accurate pricing, engineering feasibility, and final installation performance.

For any curved glass project, engineers typically need to verify several key parameters:

✅ Radius (R) – Determines the curvature of the glass.

✅ Arc Length – The actual developed length along the curve, which directly affects glass size and production cost.

✅ Chord Length – The straight-line distance between two ends of the curve, critical for installation and frame design.

✅ Rise / Arch Height – The maximum height between the chord and the arc, often used to verify the actual curvature during inspection.

✅ Glass Thickness & Structure – Monolithic tempered, laminated, insulated, or multi-layer configurations all have different bending limitations.

Many projects encounter delays because only a radius is provided while the arc length, chord length, or rise are missing. In some cases, different glass sizes can share the same radius but result in completely different final shapes.

Another important factor is manufacturability. Extremely tight radii, oversized panels, holes, notches, and irregular edges can significantly increase production complexity. Engineering review before quotation helps avoid costly redesigns later.
