Application of Monolithic Fireproof Glass

Single-piece fire-resistant glass is a fire-resistant glass with a single-piece glass structure. It can maintain the integrity of fire resistance for a certain period of time, block open flames and toxic and harmful gases on the surface of the fire, but does not have the effect of heat insulation. It is suitable for exterior curtain walls, exterior windows, skylights, smoke-proof vertical walls, fire-resistant glass frameless doors and partition walls without thermal insulation requirements.

However, in the practical application of single-piece fireproof glass, there are still many details that are easily ignored by people. The following points must be paid attention to when using it:


1. The single-piece fireproof glass belongs to the non-insulated Class C fireproof glass, and cannot be used in places where there are clear regulations for heat insulation fire and heat radiation protection. Therefore, before choosing fireproof glass, the specific fireproof requirements of fireproof should be clarified, such as fire protection, heat insulation or smoke resistance, fire resistance limit requirements, etc.


According to the thickness, the single-piece fireproof glass is divided into 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, etc.  And according to the fire resistance grade, it is divided into grade I (90 minutes), grade II (60 minutes), grade III (45 minutes), grade IV (30 minutes). The purchaser should make a reasonable purchase plan according to the project needs to avoid unnecessary waste or the consequences of failing to pass the inspection due to improper purchase.


2. When selecting refractory glass to form refractory components, in addition to considering the refractory integrity of the glass, its supporting structure and various elements must also meet the refractory requirements.


3. The single-piece fireproof glass is a safety glass that has been specially strengthened. It cannot be cut, drilled, edged, etc., otherwise, it will affect the internal structure and fire resistance of the glass. Therefore, the fireproof glass that needs special processing needs to confirm the size, shape, opening, edging and other requirements before production.


4. When storing and handling, care should be taken to avoid mechanical collisions on the edges and corners of the glass to avoid scratching the glass.
