Types of Glass Used in Glass Railings

Glass railings mostly use two kinds of glass: tempered glass and laminated glass.

Tempered Glass: Make it by heating normal glass to a high temperature (about 600 - 700°C). Then cool it down fast. This step makes the glass much stronger than normal glass. If tempered glass breaks, it has no sharp edges. It breaks into small, round pieces.
Laminated Glass: It has two or more glass layers. Put a special plastic layer (usually PVB, Polyvinyl Butyral) between these glass layers. Then press and heat the whole thing. Sound Insulation: The plastic layer between the glass layers can reduce sound. It helps make the inside of the house quieter. This is useful for railings near busy roads.
UV Protection: It can block most harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. This stops furniture and floors inside the house from fading. The fading is caused by UV rays.

Packaging

Protective Layers: First, cover each glass panel with a thin, soft film (like PE film). This stops the surface from getting scratches.
Cardboard or Foam Wrapping: After the film, wrap the glass with thick cardboard or foam sheets. These materials take in shock. They also stop the glass from hitting each other.
Wooden Crates: If you have many glass panels or need to transport them far, put them in strong wooden crates. The crates have dividers inside. These dividers keep each glass panel separate and stable.

Transportation

Specialized Trucks: Usually, transport glass railings with trucks. These trucks have flatbeds or closed bodies. They also have shock - absorbing systems. These systems reduce shaking when the truck moves.
Proper Positioning: When transporting, put the glass panels straight up or at a small angle. This stops too much pressure from being on one part of the glass. Too much pressure can make the glass break.
Weather Protection: If you use an open truck, cover the glass with waterproof cloth. This protects the glass from rain, snow or dust. These things can damage the glass surface.
Careful Handling: Workers use special tools (like suction cups) to lift and move the glass panels. They don't drop or hit the glass. This makes sure the glass stays whole.
