The differences between tempered glass and laminated glass
Tempered glass and laminated glass are both safety glazing materials. The two use different methods to prevent glass breakage and reduce the harm to people caused by glass breakage.
Tempered glass:
Tempered glass is a kind of pre-stressed glass. In order to increase the strength of glass, chemical or physical methods are usually used to form compressive stress on the glass surface. When the glass is subjected to external forces, it first cancels the surface stress, thereby improving the bearing capacity and enhancing the glass's wind resistance Compression, cold and heat, impact and so on.
Tempered glass features:
1. High strength: The mechanical strength, impact resistance and bending strength of tempered glass can reach 4-5 times that of ordinary glass.
2. High thermal stability: Tempered glass can withstand huge temperature differences without breaking, and its ability to resist temperature changes is three times that of ordinary float glass of the same thickness.
3. High safety: After the toughened glass is damaged, it will quickly show tiny obtuse particles, so as to ensure the maximum personal safety.
Laminated glass:
Laminated glass is composed of two or more pieces of glass with one or more layers of organic polymer interlayer film. After special high temperature pre-pressing (or vacuum) and high temperature and high pressure process, the glass and interlayer film are processed. Permanently bonded as a composite glass product.
Common laminated glass interlayer films are: PVB, SGP, EVA, PU, etc.
Laminated glass, because it is a double-layer glass, is fused with a solid material. It has more superior impact resistance and compression resistance than tempered glass, and even if the glass is broken, the fragments will be stuck on the film. The surface remains neat and smooth. This effectively prevents the occurrence of debris injuries and penetrating falls, ensuring personal safety.
Laminated glass is usually used in architectural glass, not only to avoid injury accidents, but also because laminated glass has excellent shock resistance. The interlayer film can withstand the continuous attack of murder weapons such as hammers and hatchets, and can also withstand the penetration of bullets for a long time.
Features of Laminated Glass:
1. Laminated glass with interlayer film can block sound waves and maintain a quiet and comfortable interior environment.
2. The function of blocking and filtering ultraviolet rays not only protects people's skin health, but also frees precious furniture and display items in the home from faded doom. It can also reduce the transmission of sunlight and reduce cooling energy consumption.
3. Extremely high safety performance, effective resistance to continuous impact of blunt, laminated glass of special material also has bulletproof function. Even if the laminated glass is broken, the fragments will be adhered to the film, which effectively prevents the fragments from scoring, penetrating, and falling, ensuring personal safety.
