Glass and Environment
Earth Day, which is April 22 every year, is a worldwide environmental protection activity. The earliest Earth Day event was an environmental movement that began on American campuses in the 1970s. The themes that Earth Day has always advocated are protecting the earth, protecting the environment, protecting animals and plants, and better maintaining the balance between humans and all species on the earth.
Glass and Environment
As a sustainable and recyclable material, glass provides great environmental benefits such as contributing to mitigating climate change and saving precious natural resources.
*Recyclable Material:
Glass is a resource-efficient material that is made of abundant natural raw material such as sand and glass waste (cullets). Glass is a fully recyclable material that can be recycled in a close loop over and over again. The amount of solid waste produced by the glass industries during manufacturing is extremely low in the glass industries as almost all glass waste (cullets) are immediately recycled and put back to furnaces to serve as raw material.
* Insulating & Low-E Glass:
Applications of Insulating glass and Low-E glass for windows and facades, can effectively adjust the indoor temperature, reduce heat loss, and improve the utilization rate of air conditioners and other energy sources.
* Solar Glass:
Glass is also used to generate renewable energy through solar-thermal and photovoltaic applications.
