3-19mm Flat Heat-strengthened Tempered Glass

3–19mm Flat Heat-Strengthened / Tempered Glass refers to flat safety glass available in thicknesses from 3mm to 19mm, processed by thermal treatment to improve strength and performance. It usually includes two categories:

1. Heat-Strengthened Glass (HS Glass)

Glass heated to around 620°C and cooled more slowly than tempered glass.

Features:

• About 2 times stronger than ordinary annealed float glass
• Better resistance to thermal stress
• Breaks into larger pieces than tempered glass (not fully safety glass in many codes)
• Less optical distortion than fully tempered glass

Common Uses:

• Curtain walls
• Laminated safety glass make-up
• Windows with thermal stress risk
• Spandrel glass

2. Fully Tempered Glass (Toughened Glass / ESG)

Glass heated and rapidly quenched.

Features:

• About 4–5 times stronger than ordinary float glass
• Safety glass: breaks into small blunt fragments
• High impact resistance
• Good thermal shock resistance
