LOW-E hollow glass, what kind of glass is it? Why are high-end doors and windows in use?

Nov 27, 2020

1. What is LOW-E glass?

LOW-E glass is low-radiation glass, it is coated on the glass surface, is the glass radiation rate E from 0.84 to 0.15 or less formed.

2, LOW-E glass what are the characteristics?

(1) The infrared reflectivity is high, and the far-infrared thermal radiation can be directly reflected.

(2) The surface radiation rate E is low, the ability to absorb foreign energy is small so that the heat energy radiated out again is less.

(3) The shading coefficient Sc range is wide, and the amount of solar energy can be controlled as needed to meet the needs of different regions.

3. Why does the LOW-E film layer reflect heat?

The LOW-E film is coated with silver, which reflects more than 98% of the far-infrared thermal radiation, reflecting heat as directly as the mirror reflects light. LOW-E's shade coefficient Sc can be from 0.2 to 0.7, allowing direct solar radiation energy entering the room to be regulated as needed

4, mature coating glass process is mainly what kind?

There are two main types: online coating, vacuum magnetically controlled sputter coating (also known as an offline coating).

On-line coated glass is manufactured on the float glass production line, this glass variety is single, poor thermal reflectivity, low manufacturing costs. Its only advantage is that it can be hot-bended.

Off-line coated glass varieties are rich and colorful, thermal reflection performance is excellent, energy-saving characteristics are obvious. The disadvantage is that it is not hot-bending.

5, LOW-E glass can be used in a single piece?

LOW-E glass manufactured by the vacuum magnetically controlled sputtering process cannot be used in a single piece and can only be used in synthetic hollow glass or laminar glass. But its radiation rate E is well below 0.15 and can be as low as 0.01.

The LOW-E glass manufactured by the on-line coating process can be used in a single piece, but its radiation rate E is 0.28, which is not strictly called LOW-E glass (scientifically referred to as a low-radiation object E≤0.15).

6, LOW-E glass in summer, winter, respectively, how to play a role?

In winter, the indoor temperature is higher than outdoor, far-infrared thermal radiation mainly comes from indoor, LOW-E glass can reflect it back indoors to keep indoor heat flowing. Low-E glass still allows some solar radiation from outside to enter the chamber, which is absorbed by indoor objects and converted into far-infrared thermal radiation and left indoors.

In summer, outdoor temperatures are higher than indoors, and far-infrared thermal radiation comes mainly from outside the city, and Low-e glass reflects them out to prevent heat from entering the room. For outdoor solar radiation, low shade low-E glass can be selected to limit its entry into the room, thereby reducing certain costs (air conditioning costs).

7, in a low-E hollow glass filled with argon what role?

Argon is an inert gas, its heat transmission is worse than air, so filling the hollow glass can reduce the U value of the hollow glass, increase the insulation of the hollow glass. For LOW-E hollow glass, argon also protects the LOW-E membrane layer.

8, LOW-E glass can attenuate how much ultraviolet light?

LOW-E glass reduces UV rays by 25% compared to ordinary single-piece clear glass. LOW-E glass reduces UV rays by 14% compared to thermally reflective coated glass.

9, LOW-E membrane layer is located in the hollow glass which surface is most suitable?

Hollow glass has 4 sides, from the outdoor to the city number is 1, 2, 3, 4, surface. Where heating demand exceeds cold demand (northern region), the LOW-E film layer should be on the surface of the 3rd. Conversely, in areas where cooling demand exceeds heating demand (southern region), the LOW-E film layer should be located on the surface of the 2nd.

10. How long does the LOW-E membrane last?

The duration of the coating layer is the same as that of the hollow glass space layer seal.

11. How to tell if the hollow glass is coated with LOW-E film?

Monitor and identity by following these steps:

A. Observe the four images presented inside the glass (in other words, four flames get four images).

B. Place a match or bright object in front of the window (whether you are in the city or outdoors), if the LOW-E glass has a different color than the other three images, if the color of the four images is the same, you can determine that the low-E glass is not installed.

12. Do users need to do something to maintain LOW-E glass products?

No, I don't need it Because the LOW-E film layer is sealed in the middle of hollow glass or lamination glass, there is no need for maintenance, just keep the glass surface clean.
