Greenhouse Glass - What Is The Difference
One of the questions that our customers often ask is what is the difference between the three greenhouse glasses that are on offer.
When buying a greenhouse you can select the type of house you want,the size of house you wa -nt and, amongst other things, which type of glass you want it to have.We offer Horticultural Glass, Toughened Glass or Polycarbonate.
Horticultural Glass would be the glass to begin with being that it is the cheapest glass on offer. Horticultural Glass would be the standard, traditional greenhouse glass; a glass that has typically been used throughout the years. This glass is generally always 3mm thick.
The great thing about horticultural glass is that being a clear glass it lets through a lot of light which the plants will enjoy. Horticultural Glass lets through more light than Polycarbonate which can become slightly more translucent over time. Once it is kept clean, Horticultural Glass will stay clear all its life.
The down side to Horticultural Glass is that it would be the easiest of the three glasses to break. When Horticultural Glass breaks it breaks into large, sharp shards of glass.This can make it the more dangerous of the three if there are children or animals in the vicinity of the greenhouse.
